Review: Quest of the Evensongs

Quest of the Evensongs

By: C.R. Cummings

Overnight Vila's simple life is shattered when she falls into a swirling pool and wakes to find herself alone with only her silent crystal. Vila soon realizes that she has stumbled upon something that has been mystifying her people for generations...and another crystal.
Coupled, the mystical crystals pull her into an exquisite vibration of colors, encircling her with swirls of luster and sound....pleading for her to help them, find the ones with knowledge!
Without much choice she is propelled into this perilous quest filled with magic, power and the unknown.
Shul, a renegade Scribe from the Palace of the Blue Robes fights to keep the little ones in his care hidden from the ones that would have them killed. Forced to return, they conceal themselves deep within the Palace.
Questions haunt him; is he the cause of the deadness creeping across their world? What...or who...are the Evensongs that called to him? He took something years ago that he didn't have the right to, but now that he has it, what is he suppose to do with it?
Adventure, intrigue and tangled relationships run rapid in this fanciful tale of a magical world, the young people striving to stay alive and the Evensongs trying to be heard.

Adventure Fantasy fanatics will love this fresh and exciting novel by C.R. Cummings!
Filled with mystery, danger and characters that will snatch up your heart with their odd quirks, undying loyalty and their seemingly endless struggle to survive, you’ll be wanting the second book before you even finish this one!
Vila is not like anyone else in her village. She is not a cliff mover; she is not even good enough to be a mate, and as the darkness grows so does Vila’s feelings of isolation. But fate has a big plan for Vila! She is bestowed with the gift of the crystal, an honor in her village, but it will lead her beyond her village and push her to be more than she ever imagined she could. When her village is destroyed by the darkness Vila sets out to find the answer to the terror destroying the world around her.
Shul is a fierce warrior with a kind heart and gruff voice. Exiled under the penalty of death from the Palace of the Blue Robes for going against their beliefs, Shul has traveled the land searching for answers. His travels become more complicated when he comes upon a small band of youngones. He must now keep them all safe and face down the danger of returning to the Palace to find the answers he seeks, because the darkness must be stopped.
Together Shul and Vila become a force to be reckoned with, the only problem, they hate each other, or do they? Together can they find all the things the evensongs require to save their world? Together can they keep the youngones safe? Can they destroy the darkness before they kill each other? Read Quest of the Evensongs to find out!

“Lost in the Evensongs” is the second book in the series ‘The Evensongs Trilogy’.  It is not the sequel, but the comparison story, bringing both sets of characters to the same place in time. It can be read before or after “Quest of the Evensongs” (though the author likes it after), creating the harmony for “Chorus of the Evensongs” due out the in fall of 2011.
